But more than just rarity, the cool factor on this is elevated because it's a GM-backed custom build. Less than 5,000 were produced over a five-year period. There's pretty good reason why you might not have heard about a Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS. Now this clean example of a factory-backed custom build is also a loaded V8 survivor offered at quite a nice price. They utilized the Monte Carlo SS front end on the El Camino. In the 1980s Choo-Choo Customs did exactly what we all wished the factory would have. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.RARE, 305 V8, 200R4 AUTO, PWR STEER/BRAKES, CLEAN & NICE, GR8 COLORS, COLLECT!!! Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A rare one like this with hardly any miles in like new original condition is only going up in value. This era of cars is really up and coming as collectable. It has disc brakes in front, e-brake assembly is hooked up. It has it's original Turbo Hydramatic 200 transmission. The exhaust system still has the catalytic converter. The floors are absolutely rust free, smooth metal. The assembly line tags and paint markings are still visible. UNDERSIDE: It is completely original, very well preserved. There is also a custom made tonneau cover with an SS emblem. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside the bed has no damage or dents, painted gloss black. It features power steering, power brakes and factory air conditioning system. It's one of the best looking survivor motor compartments I've seen. The entire engine compartment is 100% stock and still in excellent condition. The jack and spare are still stowed behind the seat, they've never been out.ĮNGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 5.0 motor. Door panels, carpet, everything is excellent. The headliner is mint, it is not drooping. It was ordered as a radio delete, the 1st owner put his own stereo in it. It has the factory gauge package including a tachometer. The cigarette lighter and ashtray have never been used. There's wear, no cracks or fading whatsoever. By the way, the interior is literally like brand new. The seat is a split bench with a fold down armrest. INTERIOR: The build sheet says it's a luxury interior, sitting in here I know why. These were stored in the garage and still look new. The owner actually had other wheels on the car. It has the original Western aluminum wheels and Good Year Vector tires. It has the Choo Choo certification tag in the driver's door jamb. The glass is crystal clear, the weather strips are still. All the chrome and trim is shiny and straight. The rubber front end is mint, it's never been touched up or bumped. The paint is very glossy, I actually didn't even find any nicks or scratches. It is absolutely laser beam straight, no rust or damage. It has original build sheet and manuals.ĮXTERIOR: All original condition. We just bought some cars from a collector, he purchased this one from the original owner in 2013 with 2,900 miles. The SS includes the revised front end (Monte Carlo), non functional hood scoop, aluminum side moldings, chrome fender trim, SS decals, Western wheels and more. Each car was shipped to Chatanooga for the conversion before being sold new at the dealers. They were the conversion van specialists. This is the car Chevy should have made, the SS conversion was actually done at Choo Choo Customs. Only 2,200 estimated El Camino SS were made total from 1983 to 1987. Very rare SS!ģ,982 actual miles!! All original survivor down to the tires.
